"Stoplight De-Lite" (sometimes erroneously called "Spotlite De-Lite") is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey. It was recorded in 2009 and leaked on February 3, 2013. The song was co-written and produced by Jeff Peretz and Gerard Smith, with mixing by Peretz and samples provided by Smith.[1]

Background

The song was written with Peretz and Smith in 2009 before Del Rey began using her current stage name. Lyrically, the song is inspired by the sample of a street signal box which was provided by Smith. The vocals were provided by Del Rey, with the bass, guitar and drums all performed by Peretz. Peretz later mixed the song at Axis Sound.

Lyrics

I had a man, he was sweet as pie
I met him as I walked right by him
He said, "Baby, you so fine that when you walk even the stoplights stop to talk about you."

"I saw you and I had to make you mine, 'cause you ultimately the most fine.
You know a man like me gotta have a woman that's killer.
She's gotta be a killer, killer, killer, baby."

Fly body, dope in the face
Fly body, dope in the face

The way you talk, well, you make me smile
And I'm lookin' down 'cause I'm kinda shy
You know you're so fine that when you talk
Even the roses get up to walk to you

You're crazy but I knew that at the time
I just could not resist your golden grill
And your stupid pick up line

Fly body, dope in the face
Fly body, dope in the face

There's somethin' about you when you say, "C'mon, c'mon with me, babe."
And I don't know why but I know
Wherever you go, I'm gonna follow

Fly body, don't mean a thing
Fly body, don't mean a thing
Fly body, dope in the face

You gonna be the, you gonna be the, you gonna be the
Death of me

Are you alive?

Ooh, ah, ooh, ah
Ah, ah, ah

You so fly, you so dope, babe
You so fly, you so dope, babe

Fly like a bird
