It features an electric guitar riff played throughout the song, punchy drum beats, and a lead synth in the final chorus. Del Rey's vocals are playful and multilayered, especially towards the end of the song where she performs multiple ad-libs. The song is about a relationship where one partner keeps leading the other on, much to their exasperation.
Two snippets of the song leaked under alternate titles on August 15, 2016, and a third snippet leaked on August 27, 2016. The full song leaked on September 6, 2016. The track is one of two songs Del Rey is known to have produced with Crispin Hunt, alongside "Every Man Gets His Wish", and it is assumed they were recorded in the same sessions.
