"Poolside" (stylized as "POOLSIDE") is a short film directed by Aaron Peer starring Lana Del Rey. It was filmed over a couple of days around the 19th of June 2010. Locations include the Hershey Motel in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. It wasn't until 2 years later, after her rise to fame, that the film was premiered at the 16th Picturestart Film Festival in New York on June 5, 2012. Poolside won the audience choice award for Best Short Film and was 1st runner-up for the audience choice Best Actor award (Charles Alberto).
In November 2012, Director Peer was interviewed by GQ France and said of Lana Del Rey's appearance in the short film: "[Lana] helped me create her character, notably on the level of diction and performance". Del Rey is credited under her real name Lizzy Grant. The film was first released online on July 31 on Vimeo and August 1 on YouTube in 2012. The film had a budget of $400 with contributions from friends and family.
